Our team includes writers, directors, designers, animators as well as marketing strategists and technology experts. We have PhDs and MFAs and BAs hanging on the wall - along with a LOT of books. Every client works directly with the principals.
Say It Visually was launched in 2008. Our first video was "How To Explain The 2008 Financial Crisis To Your Kids." It was made on a shoestring, with tools we would never use today, and audio quality that makes us red in the face. Despite this, it's garnered about 350,000 views and still gets traffic today.
In the years since, we've worked with an amazing range of clients, diverse fields and topics. One way to measure the result is "millions of views." Another is (unsolicited) comments like this:
"This the best explanation of SACM in ITIL I've ever come across. I'm co-author of the ITIL v3 Service Strategy book. I worked closely with Service Transition co-author and good friend Shirley Lacy. Both of us would have loved to have worked with the minds behind this SACM explanation." miqbal020
The best, of course, is that most of our work has been repeat business - we're a little fanatical about client service.
What qualifies someone to go into the explanation business?
Here's our team's formula:
- 20+ years of research and reading on visual communications, metaphor, narrative structure, presentation, language and learning
- A passion for animation (go ahead, ask us an animation trivia question...)
- PhD in Digital Media
- Master's in Directing
- Senior IT experience (because it's all still pretty technical...)
- BA in Art & Animation
- Fortune 1000 Senior VP
- Startup CEO
- Classroom teaching experience
- Patent & IP Technical Expert
We don't have a formula for explanation media, though. Seriously. Look through our portfolio. You'll see a wide, wide range of styles and production methods. Animation, for sure. Stop-motion. Motion graphics. Vector graphics. Whiteboard drawing. Pencil drawing. Live video (very selective and no "talking heads"). 3-D. Watercolor. Actual pigment-on-canvas paintings. And, yeah, we can make Powerpoint sing opera.
